Met hiring rep at Franklyn Simmons 073114 at Matthews NC location. Never heard anything. Called many times(at least one week apart). At first he answered his phone, now he just ignores my messages.

Present for interview at Holiday Inn Sept 9, 2014 in Charlotte, NC.

I was only older applicant and the only one with grocery experience and a degree in Management. Everyone who was present for follow-up interviews was about 25 years old. Definitely will not hire older workers especially those over 50 years old.

This is the third time I have been treated badly.

I am in process of filing EEOC complaint. Perhaps other may want to also do so.

Preferred solution: Fair employment consideration..

Location: Austin, Texas

You are correct! They do discriminate.

I have over 7 years in retail/grocery, I have applied 3 times, went to a hiring fair, and my 20 year old daughter with only 2 years retail experience was hired over me. She finally asked a shift manager why I was not hired with all my previous experience, and she flat out told her, because we do not hire anyone over 40.

And they also do not hire men, you will rarely see any men working as cashiers, and most managers are also under 40 years of age. I agree I am filing a complaint with the EEOC.

It may have had nothing to do with age, maybe you received no call back because you were an annoying person who just happens to be old and cantankerous.

You have experience AND a degree in Management - so you applied at an Aldi....Aldi?

That's a red flag to any Personnel Supervisor.

If you don't understand what I mean then you definitely won't understand the explanation.

The OP did not state what position they were applying for. For all you know, they were applying for management.

You also need to keep in mind, a lot of older workers who have retired from their lifetime careers seek part-time jobs in lower level positions that while not pay as much, but are less stressful and provide a stream of additional income for them. So my advice to you id*ot, would be to hush your ignorant mouth.
