Haven't heard anything back. Will be going to BBB, Attorney General, and talk with ADA people about not only Aldi but Oissed Consumer as the latter alleges they will help but haven't. This was illegal and beyond unethical

Updated by user Feb 26, 2025

The event was horrific. And the REFUSAL to connect me to supervisory personnel remain apalling

Original review Feb 25, 2025
I have been patronizing this Aldi -- on Elm Road in Cortland Ohio area -- since we moved here in 2023. I am disabled, as all who have helped me find products as well as all who have checked me out already have been made aware i.e., two replaced knees, back surgery, and two shoulder surgeries (the latest of which was December, 2024).

When preparing to check out I have place all my groceries in a box so as to not make multiple stooping attempts to lift them to the belt at the cash register. In doing so I turn the bar code up so the cashier can easily scan these items. Until today I have been greeted and treated incredibly well and as a customer. Today, a younger man was at the register and I was trying to put the items in the box as noted.

He said, "I will not check those things out until you remove them from the box." I shared with him that I needed to do this as had been done because of physical issues. He refused to check me out. I walked away and, as I was he told me, "You need to get back here and take care of your groceries." They weren't my groceries as I had not paid for them yet. I then yelled BACK at him, even as HE had done to me with this last statement, and left.
I am disabled, and by the American's for Disability Act accomodations are to be made.

I did all I could to make it easier for him to simply scan and put the box of groceries back in the basket even after checking them out. He LAUGHED.
What the xxxx kind of customer service have YOU gone to that YOUR employee -- ACTING UNDER THE ALDI MANTRE -- will do this? I will NEVER go back. This store, and this company has decided to treat people as a convenience to them, rather than a customer with them.

And to do so in this manner is beyond atrocious.
I then tried three times to get through to corporate on a toll free line, was hung up on two times after asking for a supervisor, and then on the third time was told, the person was an operator, to tell her, and that I could not speak with a supervisor. to try to work chain of command and report it in house BEFORE I reported it here.

User's recommendation: Do NOT go there. You WILL be an inconvenience and refused to be checked out. You WILL be told and ORDERED to "GET BACK HERE" rather than asked, "How can I help you. AND you WILL be IGNORED when you call the Aldi Corporate Line and told, "I'm an operator. You need to tell me instead of any management!" ut. You WILL be seen as a bother, rather than as a customer. I am disabled also. You may be a Vet.

In any case I was horrified by your account.

I have a background in State Civil Rights Director of Investigations. For these reasons I will not patronize ALDI Stores.

Instead of clutching your pearls, you should be advising OP to use the free item pickup service where the shopping is done and bagged. One doesn't announce their disability and offer their rigid solution and moan "accommodations". OP was able to drive to Aldi and shop the store.

The fact that you want someone fired shows how DISGUSTING you are. You really are DISGUSTING. Why would you want an apology that would be fake?

Are you disabled ? Do you fluff off being disrespected in a business setting ?

Obviously you are much more acceptable than most people. There is a Employee Handbook which would outline disinpliinary action. That is the answer. I served as a First line Supervisor in Law Enforcement and Director of State Civil Rights.

Your comments are pretty Disgusting in my opinion. Shame on you

Guest

" "I will not check those things out until you remove them from the box" "I am disabled, and by the American's for Disability Act accomodations are to be made" You are NOT special. Those are the rules at most if not all Aldi stores.

YOU sound like a lame brat using words like "horrific" to describe a self-inflicted situation. If YOU can't cope with a simple shopping situation, then YOU must have your stuff delivered to your home. People are so over entitled lames like you.

You are now in the Find Out phase. This will not go well for you in the future.

Oroduct availability

I have been searching for *** oil mayonnaise for months. I have shopped at 5 Aldi's and none on the shelves in any of them!

Store personnel tell me it comes mixed with the regular mayo and that it has not been discontinued. Lots of jars of regular mayo in every store, so please explain?

When can I get it again? I love it for making egg salad, deviled eggs, macaroni salad this time of year!

Pros:
  • Prices
  • Selection
Cons:
  • Phone contact not available

Misrepresentation of product

AI Highlights
  • Never Any! chicken breasts not thin; fat, veins, cartilage.
  • Had to filet and discard over a pound after paying $18.72; seeking reimbursement.
Aldi Grocery - Misrepresentation of product

Recently, I purchased 3 packages of Never Any! thin sliced chicken breasts.

They were not thin, had deposits of chicken fat in the packages, and were loaded with veins and cartilage. To prepare dinner, I had to filet the breasts and cut out the veins and cartilage. I paid $18.72 for the products and must discard over a pound!

I demand reimbursement and funds toward preparation, as I could not prepare food of this nature for my family. I have been a loyal customer of Aldi and am truly disheartened by the lack of integrity in advertising this product.

Aldi Grocery - Employee refused to give me my change back.

I didn't receive my change from Timothy from store #142. He lied about my total.

I asked him after handing him a $20 if I had change, and he said it was $19.98, not $19.48. And he didn't have 2¢. I later on discovered when I looked at the receipt he owed me my change. This is stealing and a lie.

Everyone count your change when you make any purchases because some cashiers are slick. Also, ask for a receipt at all times.

If they lie, get management to count the drawers and run the cameras back. Thank you.

Cons:
  • Timothy from timonium aldi 142 stole change and lied about it i can not trust that store

Preferred solution: My money back and an apology from management/ Timothy and a review of Timothy transaction history in the past. I believe he is a cheat and a thief at work.

The real LIAR is YOU. You only spent $20, and lost 2 cents and are trying to get $50.

Nice try though. You did not lose $50.

Little kid, I am sure that it was more of him reading the receipt wrong than a lie.

What a loser. If you want to complain to someone, complain to E L O N and his hand puppet.

They're the ones who decided to do away with the penny. My guess is that you're old, lonely and have nothing else going on for you.

If it'll make you feel better pop pop, I can mail you a dollar. That should make you whole.

Price at different stores

Poor product/store access

Original review May 28, 2026
Website advertises Roma Tomatoes for $1.27/lb. I went to my local Aldi store.

Upon check out the said tomatoes were $1.47/lb. I was told each store may have different prices, depending on location.
I called Customer Service to find out how I can research if a store in my area has the same price advertised on website. Customer Service states there is no way to do that. They and/or customers are unable to telephone individual stores.

Also, Customer Services is unable to research inventory prices at [GEOGRAPHIC_DATA]. The only option is for the customer is to physically visit each store to see what the prices are.
I find this not only inconvenient but ridiculous.

Therefore, I am heading to [GEOGRAPHIC_DATA] to get my tomatoes and other groceries. I plan to not shop at [GEOGRAPHIC_DATA] again.
Customer Service also let me know they do not have those options/services I requested to help keep prices low.
Well, youve lost a customer because of this Stores false advertising.

User's recommendation: Beware of website prices….

Problem in store with price & rude checker.

AI Highlights
  • -Valentine item #690836 was claimed not marked down.
  • -Shelf tag shown; staff said it was in the wrong spot.
  • -Item is slightly soiled from shelf wear.
Aldi Grocery - Problem in store with price & rude checker.

I was very rudely & loudly, in front of all the other customers in the store, told a marked down ($4.99 to $1.19) Valentine's Day item (#690836) in the marked down section was not marked down & had just come in today. It was an item that I saw several weeks before Val.

Day. I showed the checker the shelf tag (& have a picture of shelf & item - see below). She said, it was in wrong spot & not marked down. Which I know is not true, item is even slightly soiled from shelf wear.

Her demeanor & raised voice like I was trying to pull something over on her was very embarrassing.

If I am going to cheat someone it will be for more than $3.80 difference on a markdown. Thank you for your time.

Preferred solution: Retraining of person in question. Better treatment of customers. Dissappointed in lost items I wished to purchase.

User's recommendation: Dissappointed in Aldi, not what it used to be. The manager Max is who you want to deal with. He is gracious, helpful & the type of representative Aldi needs. This woman is not.

Aldi is very lax with markdowns. If it’s a single item (only ONE variety) there is no problem.

There were 3 or 4 styles in that dog toy. They probably only changed the price on one style. I noticed wax melts that were available in three scents. They only marked one down at POS, but all were in same display (Xmas).

Same thing with the 2026 planners. Same thing mid-Summer when Mother’s Day and graduation card were marked down.

I would grab an associating the floor and they can use their price-gun to verify price. They can also update it too.

Guest

How to sound old without saying. They don't have associates that will get a price gun for someone like you.

At best, they may only have 4 people in the store at anytime.

You and your paltry savings is not worth the time. If I was there, I would thrown this peon a few dollars just to get her out of the way.

Actually I’m 37, noticed the issue twice. Didn’t know till I got home and didn’t care.

OP does, so was just offering suggestions. My Aldi does a huge delivery business and weekdays there are 2-3 associates on the floor pulling orders.

They are always asking if people need help. Sorry you are so bitter.
