Haven't heard anything back. Will be going to BBB, Attorney General, and talk with ADA people about not only Aldi but Oissed Consumer as the latter alleges they will help but haven't. This was illegal and beyond unethical

Updated by user Feb 26, 2025

The event was horrific. And the REFUSAL to connect me to supervisory personnel remain apalling

Original review Feb 25, 2025
I have been patronizing this Aldi -- on Elm Road in Cortland Ohio area -- since we moved here in 2023. I am disabled, as all who have helped me find products as well as all who have checked me out already have been made aware i.e., two replaced knees, back surgery, and two shoulder surgeries (the latest of which was December, 2024).

When preparing to check out I have place all my groceries in a box so as to not make multiple stooping attempts to lift them to the belt at the cash register. In doing so I turn the bar code up so the cashier can easily scan these items. Until today I have been greeted and treated incredibly well and as a customer. Today, a younger man was at the register and I was trying to put the items in the box as noted.

He said, "I will not check those things out until you remove them from the box." I shared with him that I needed to do this as had been done because of physical issues. He refused to check me out. I walked away and, as I was he told me, "You need to get back here and take care of your groceries." They weren't my groceries as I had not paid for them yet. I then yelled BACK at him, even as HE had done to me with this last statement, and left.
I am disabled, and by the American's for Disability Act accomodations are to be made.

I did all I could to make it easier for him to simply scan and put the box of groceries back in the basket even after checking them out. He LAUGHED.
What the xxxx kind of customer service have YOU gone to that YOUR employee -- ACTING UNDER THE ALDI MANTRE -- will do this? I will NEVER go back. This store, and this company has decided to treat people as a convenience to them, rather than a customer with them.

And to do so in this manner is beyond atrocious.
I then tried three times to get through to corporate on a toll free line, was hung up on two times after asking for a supervisor, and then on the third time was told, the person was an operator, to tell her, and that I could not speak with a supervisor. to try to work chain of command and report it in house BEFORE I reported it here.

User's recommendation: Do NOT go there. You WILL be an inconvenience and refused to be checked out. You WILL be told and ORDERED to "GET BACK HERE" rather than asked, "How can I help you. AND you WILL be IGNORED when you call the Aldi Corporate Line and told, "I'm an operator. You need to tell me instead of any management!" ut. You WILL be seen as a bother, rather than as a customer. You

" "I will not check those things out until you remove them from the box" "I am disabled, and by the American's for Disability Act accomodations are to be made" You are NOT special. Those are the rules at most if not all Aldi stores.

YOU sound like a lame brat using words like "horrific" to describe a self-inflicted situation. If YOU can't cope with a simple shopping situation, then YOU must have your stuff delivered to your home. People are so over entitled lames like you.

You are now in the Find Out phase. This will not go well for you in the future.

Did you go to urgent care or the ER and have the medical proof it was this exact product that caused you to become ill? Because without medical proof, you cannot rightfully point the finger at any particular food item.

Maybe move on with your life. These things are obviously too much for your old and broken down system to handle.

A clausterphobic nightmare of navigation for poor quality products

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review updated Jun 01, 2025

How on earth this appalling supermarket is allowed to continue to operate is a mystery. I have just returned from yet another nightmarish shopping experience in Leamington Spa.

Yet again, most of its shelves were empty, with customers abandoning their shopping to go elsewhere. There was little or no fruit, no chicken, no snack/lunchbox products, no eggs, and no rice. When there is fruit, the quality is outrageous. Every visit is an assault course of navigation through barricaded aisles.

For some insane reason, Aldi provides tanks as shopping trolleys that are clearly enormously too big for the store. They are unnecessarily oversized, much larger than any of their competitors. These tanks join the barricaded aisles that are constantly blocked by huge cages and crates as shelf stocking staff also block access to shelves. Customers with baskets desperately struggle to get through the aisles and then to gain access to shelves while tempers are routinely frayed.

Every weekend visit is always a daunting task. It is surprising fights haven't broken out among customers during the routine arguments as basket-carrying customers consistently have to push these tanks out of the way just to gain access. Basket-carrying customers are often corralled, trapped in by trolleys surrounding them as they have to fight their way out of the tight spaces. I have had to physically push the cages out of the way and remove empty boxes littering the floor and shelves.

Customers in the community have complained numerous times about the appallingly poor management of the store, but Aldi so-called customer services clearly don't give a damn as long as they make a profit.

They fob off customers to area managers who are either equally incompetent or who are instructed to ignore the complaints. Aldi Head Office deliberately avoid contact as they have no contact details, choosing instead to distance themselves from customers by delegating to a customer service policy that is clearly antagonistic and hostile to customers.

They are nuts. Nuts come in a shell.

Can't think of a bag of nut pieces that doesn't say there may be shells in the package. It isn't possible to be sure 100% of the shells are removed.

Poor quality ground beef, excessive ads, rude check out

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Going to Aldi's was a cool experience how some cashiers is you don't bring a cart will throw items into the hard the don't place them in the bag gently. Before you can put you money into your wallet and pick your bag up they are already placingnother people's items into the cart.

I a waitress putting a check on the table long before you are finished eating. I assumed it would be inherent politeness no to do this. Aldi's does have great prices. However their ground meat is tasteless.

It is more expensive than the local butchers which sells excellent ground beef.

In addition I need their ads 10 to 20x a day promoting their beef to be US grade A (honestly it must be graded on a curve) I say this because I know they can do better.

In fairness the prices are great on most items. Most employees are very nice.I hate repetitive ads from any company.

Sometimes things get missed in stock ration at any grocery store. The expiration date is in plain sight. Take the time to look at it when you are making a purchase to avoid problems like this.

I bought milk last night, 3/1/25, at 7:30, labeled with a March 10 expiration date. I got home shortly after and opened the milk to have a glass, only to find out it was spoiled and chunky, rotten after consuming it. I'm disappointed and want to contact someone about removing that supply of milk so that others don't buy it.

Choked on a foreign object inside a piece of lambshop

Aldi Grocery - Choked on a foreign object inside a piece of lambshop

I am alone was looking forward to cooking the land chops I purchased in the St. Petersburg location on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. Once cooked ate the first 3 all good, then took a bite of the 4th and lady one and wax chewing, then felt what I thought was a bone that I swallowed, I panicked try to cough it out stuck my finger down my throat, gagged, I was not able to breathe and thought I was going to die again stuck my finger down my throat deep as I can go and threw up about an inch spring foreign object.

The discrace is that you're too stupid to use the internet to find out when the store opens. The information right there you silly plank.

As an FYI, most store do not post a phone number for this very reason. They operate on a small staffing leveling and don't have time for idiots who call in for the most inane nonsense possible.

I don't think that this chain will work for you. Shop elsewhere lame.
